There’s a new kid on the block! A very cool one too. I am talking about new café and roastery Ozone in Shoreditch. Hailing from New Zealand, Ozone Coffee Roasters has recently opened in East London’ in the centre of the so-called “Silicon Roundabout” (London’s technology hub which has drawn comparisons to the Silicon Valley in California). Minutes away from Old Street Station, Ozone is a great addition to the London’s coffee scene.
On the ground floor you’ll find the café, offering breakfast, brunch and lunch every day. The space (an old warehouse) is large and bright, with high ceilings and brick walls. In the middle of the room, there’s the Brew Bar and Grill Kitchen. You can choose to sit on stools around the kitchen or by the large windows overlooking Leonard Street; at the back of the room, there are booths that can accommodate 4-6 people.
Downstairs is where the Ozone team is roasting their single origin fair trade coffee. Ozone is committed to a sustainable and ethical business, sourcing coffee directly from the growers, ensuring the best quality, but most of all making a difference in the lives of the growers and their families at origin.
People are a vital part of our operation and our philosophy is to build strong relationships with our clients, suppliers and our team. We invite you to join us on our journey as we live, roast, taste and talk coffee.
This was the vision of Jamie and Karen Hodson, who founded Ozone in 1998 as a small boutique roastery in New Plymouth (NZ), and it still remains an integral part of the brand’s philosophy.

I went to Ozone during my lunch break, so it was a quick visit that allowed me to take a few photos and taste their Macchiato. I have heard great things about their brunch menu, so I am planning a weekend trip soon!
